I grew up in New York's Hudson Valley where my parents opened Bread Alone Bakery and instilled a strong work ethic and love of fine food in me. After attending college in the Midwest, I moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in journalism while studying Arabic at night school.
Armed with humor and a quick wit, I conquer any tangled mess or daunting life upheaval with ease. My ability to visualize new configurations and design, along with my systematic approach allow me to create beautiful, comfortable spaces well-suited for your individual needs and tastes.
Later, I lived in the Middle East working as a freelance journalist before coming to the University of Chicago to pursue my MA at The Center for Middle Eastern Studies. As a student, I cared for an elderly Hyde Park woman, and discovered a gift for helping other families navigate the challenges of aging and downsizing. Since starting my business in 2014, I've worked with dozens of clients on a wide variety of home organizational projects. I live in Hyde Park with my husband, Mick, and daughter, Leila.
"Liv helped me find more space by streamlining the functionality of my apartment. Then with the magic of her eye and a bag of tools, she transformed my closets into ample storage with new hooks, shelves, and lighting. The outside world may be crazy, but Liv created a well-ordered place for me to come home to at night." - Joan
Your home should be a restful and relaxing space to live, work, and play. But too often, failed filing systems and accumulated items clutter up not just your home, but your attention, too.
I help you lighten your load and make your space feel and function just the way you need.
"Always methodical, Liv helped me face the overwhelming challenges of downsizing, unpacking, interior design, ongoing home management, and more. Nothing is too difficult for her. Best of all, Liv's guidance and energy has given me more confidence to take on projects myself. Who knew an organizer could be such a great therapist?" - Anna
Most home organizers are just that and nothing more. I go beyond the norm with a different approach. My goal is to help you craft the life you want to live- digging deep on your needs, rhythms, and goals. Whether that's sorting boxes of old photos, arranging furniture, or collating tax records, my offerings are tailored to you.
"Liv rescued us when our four-story row house sold quickly, leaving us less than three months to empty our home of 30+ years. When a close family member passed away the week of the move, she rearranged her schedule to oversee both the move-out and move-in. We couldn't have managed without Liv's attention to detail and capable help." - Sara & Steve
Any move, life transition, or decluttering project can feel intimidating without a solid plan and guidance. That’s where I come in. With a mind for logistics, I take you step by step so we can accomplish your goals and shape a home that suits your needs and lifestyle.
After collecting 25 years worth of precious mementos, furniture, and art, downsizing seemed like an impossible task. But with Liv, there was no problem she couldn’t solve. Liv supervised the movers, got the apartment cleaned, and even helped us decide what furniture and pictures would fit into our new place. She certainly earned our confidence. - Ed & Heather
Downsizing to a smaller space takes more than a home organizer. You need a strategic partner who can break each step down into manageable chunks. I help you make sense of all the moving parts and create a clear plan for your transition.
When we made the decision to downsize from a three story town home and move to a 1900 square foot apartment, I was thrilled. I was also overwhelmed... Enter Liv Leader—calm; kind; exceedingly competent and efficient; well connected; one of the finest project managers I’ve ever encountered. This move was our major project of 2018, and Liv was the major reason why we transitioned with relative ease. We spend a lot less time taking care of “stuff” and a lot more time on what we want to be doing in this chapter of our lives. - Ann & David
Managing your home and coordinating necessary responsibilities shouldn’t take your attention away from friends, family, hobbies, or volunteering. Whether it’s a recurring need or a one-time project, my goal is to give you time to do what you love.
